EN 1275 Basic Fungicidal Activity
Test Purpose
The European standard, EN 1275,
describes a suspension-based,
quantitative, microbiology lab
test for establishing the
capability of a client’s product
to produce a reduction in the
number of viable fungal cells
under conditions defined by the
standard.
Test Summary
A test suspension of fungal
cells is added to a prepared
sample of the test substance
diluted with sterile deionized
water. At the Sponsor specified
contact time, an aliquot is
taken and the fungicidal and/or
fungistatic activity is
immediately suppressed by
dilution or filtration
neutralization. The number of
surviving fungi in each sample
is determined standard culture
plating techniques and the
reduction in viable counts is
calculated.
