Re-Use (Stress) Test for
Reusable Chemical Germicides
Test Purpose
Products which are intended to
be labeled for extended re-use
need to undergo a controlled
stressing or re-use procedure to
demonstrate that they are robust
over time. For disinfectant
products intended for re-use, a
carrier method is used to
deliver the soil and microbial
challenge. Following the reuse
procedure, efficacy tests are
performed.
Test Summary
The disinfectant (test
substance) is subjected to
simulated use conditions by
adding microbial burden, soil
and dilution due to equipment
processing under which the
disinfectant is designed to be
used. This procedure is repeated
for the number of days the
product is intended to be
re-used. A carrier method is
used to deliver the soil and
microbial challenge. The test
system used in this study will
follows the "Re-Use Test
Protocol Specifications" as
described in EPA Regulations.
